On Saturday night, September 8, 2007 a Boot Scoot Barbecue Dinner and Auction was held in Fort Worth, Texas to benefit the LifeNets Developing Nations Scholarship Fund.  What a fun evening attended by 100 people which helped raise about $3500 for college scholarships.  We give thanks to the Soundpost band from Ft. Worth that gave freely of their time for the benefit. Their music was absolutely great!  Be sure to see their Web site.

We give special thank to Brenda and Kelli Hogg who organized the event.  Brenda Hogg had earlier organized a special collection of items for Chernobyl by Dallas teens in 1997 for a ten ton container to the Revival Centre for Disabled Children that LifeNets works with to this very day.  You can see stories on our Web site about the collection project at http://www.lifenets.org/chernobyl/dallas.htm and dispatching of the container on December 22, 1999.

The evening included a silent auction for various items donated by local businesses. There was also a raffle for an i-Pod, quilt, sale of baked goods and much more. The barbecue dinner was out of this world.  A PowerPoint presentation showed photos of some of the students in the Developing Nations Scholarship Program.

We thank everyone for making this such a special event.  The official LifeNets Boot Scoot website is at http://www.bootscoot.org/
