Livelihood Development Support in Brazil
New Computer Repair Business Successful

Posted July 27, 2006

LifeNets, as it's able to, supports those who can successfully leverage seed money to become self-sufficient and dramatically improve their economic status.  We have been able to see this kind of outcome in the life of the Giovane Macedo in Brazil. With the help of LifeNets supporter and volunteer Jorge de Campos who has facilitated our support, we are well underway to having a family find work and become self-sufficient.

In 2005 both the Macedo's lost their jobs. He had a job in a car repair business and his wife’s job was a local pre-primary school teacher. Since then he and his wife have been unable to get a new job.

But, Giovane has IT (Information Technology) and Networking qualifications and skills. As such, he approached various banks to get a loan to start a small IT repair business that he and his wife would run jointly. However as they have no collateral, the loan was denied. The situation has got from bad to worse with time, and he was at a position that he urgently needed assistance to get started as all other job related doors have been closed.  They were denied help everywhere they turned.

This is where Life Nets has come in to be of assistance with an initial subsidy which will enable him to get the remaining loan from the bank to start his small business. He is committed to make a success of the business and is extremely grateful for the ‘life net’ that Life Nets has approved for him and his family.

A LifeNets grant opened the door to opening a computer repair business which has really taken off!   Giovane writes us an email on July 3, 2006 which reads in part:

I am Giovane. And I and my family would like to thank for the help that you and his wife rendered us. I would like you to know also that the small technical support business in computers has already been started.  Mr. de Campos has sent you photos of the business (shown below). Well, I really thank them of heart for the interest in helping us.
Forgive me for not writing more, but it is that I don't know how to speak and nor to write in English.

A great hug in you and in the whole family.

Brothers in Christ....

Giovane, Laura and Michelle

The photos below give a testimony to the spirit entrepreneurship that we love to see!
