LifeNets Inaugurates Brazil Cow Project

August 13, 2004

Updated September 6, 2004

This phase of the Brazil Cow Project has been fully funded!  In fact, we have received more than we need for this first phase and will use it for the continuing to help these people. We will know more about them and their needs in the middle of October.

The place they live is called Maloca, northern Brazil. The place is very small and sometimes it does not appear on maps. The larger town of Boa Vista in the Amazons is a few kilometers away. Maloca is also very close to English Guyana and is located between Boa Vista and Guyana.

Wanderson Esquerdo, will be traveling there  later in September and he will get us a full report with photos.

At the request of United Church of God pastor Saul Langarica from Chile, LifeNets is planning to make a grant to help an extremely poor community in northern Brazil. The community includes 20 children who have had no source of milk for some time. The request is for the purchase of four cows that would alleviate the problem and provide a valuable source of protein for the growing children. The cost of this project is $1000 of which the local church will provide  $250.

If you would like to help with this project please contact us at

brazilcows@lifenets.org

Perhaps you would like to adopt a project like this fully.  Please let us know.

The cows will be purchased in October when the money will be hand-carried into the remote region.

We will continue the LifeNets policy of Passing on the Gift meaning that the first calf born from each cow will be passed on to a neighbor. The owners of the gift cows will keep all subsequent calves.

All contributions are tax-deductible and every dollar contributed will go directly for the purchase of cows.

More information, photos and reports will be coming as soon as the cows are purchased.

All donations are tax-deductible. When this project is fully funded any excess will be used for similar LifeNets projects.
