Lafayette and Terre Haute, Indiana United Churches of God
Car Wash and Bake Sale for Chernobyl August 15, 2004

Lafayette and Terre Haute, Indiana United Churches of God Combine Efforts
for Successfully Raising $792 that Wal-Mart added a $500 bonus

What a successful day!  People arrived at Wal-Mart around 8:00 AM and began setting up the Car Wash area. The first car was washed around 8:15 am and we were busy from then on.

We set up the bake sale area around 9:00 am. The sales for the bake sell were slow at first but with the ladies' entrepreneurial skills they shot up to around $300.00 by the end of the day.

The car wash was a lot of fun. We had approximately 17 people from the Lafayette and Terre Haute United Church of God congregations show to work. I had expectations of doing about $250 - 300 for the day but again God's plans were different. We realized $492.00 from the car wash and another $300.00 from the bake sale for a total of $792.00 for the day.

In addition our day was blessed by the fact that we were accident free, everyone displayed a very cooperative attitude and the results were fantastic.

Proceeds will go towards LifeNets continuing eight-year work in Chernihev, Ukraine for benefiting disabled children....many the result of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.  For more information about this ongoing project, please go to www.lifenet.org/chernobyl.  The Wal-Mart part of the contribution will go towards LifeGaps Charter School in Monticello, Indiana that LifeNets supports.  More at www.lifenets.org/lifegaps.

Thanks to EVERYONE who made this a super successful day!!!!
