Delivers Again in Lilongwe, Malawi
August 17, 2001
The container that we loaded in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 23 was unloaded intact in Lilongwe, Malawi by the intended recipients on August 1, 2001. We are very excited about this success.
The container left Minneapolis February 26 through Cadiz, Spain where it was sent on the Algiers. From there it was shipped to Durban, South Africa where it arrived April 15th. There it was detained for nearly seven weeks because of customs questions. From there it was transported by truck to Lilongwe where it again sat for over a month because of paperwork and the endless questions. It was finally released and unloaded August 1st.
This container contained vital equipment for the newly constructed Malakia Clinic along with large quantities of food, salt, bedding and much much more. The shipping was provided by the United States Department of Defense for no charge to us.
Enjoy the photos below that Mark Chonde, son of the Clinic Founder Gladstone Chonde took, scanned and emailed to LifeNets. Thanks to all WHO MADE THIS A SUCCESS. My wife Beverly and I will be traveling to Lilongwe, Malawi and will be there from September 26-30th.
