The entire story about our Malawi Aid Project
September 26, 1998
We have word from the US Department of Defense: Container will be dropped off for loading on October 30th and shipping to Malawi on November 2! We have waited almost two years for this and now it's happened! But, not only this, the Defense Department said that they can give us TWO 40 foot containers, but they have to go together. The US Governments pays the entire shipping cost.
We have been able to contact a source for clothing and had another charity donate 20 tons of clothes that will go on one of the containers, but we could still use a little help for last minute items we can buy for the first container. We'd like to ship as much medication as possible. Remember that we buy medicine at 6% of retail. Medicine vital for malaria, AIDS, pneumonia will be purchased the last two weeks of October. Every dollar donated will buy $15 worth of medicine. We also would like to buy a ton of cooking oit and pallettes of rice. We feel that another $3000 added to the $7000 we already have will make this container a success.
Again, if there are any office or furniture items you can part with, please CLICK here and I'll let you know how to ship it to the loading area. Any questions?? Please contact me at malawi@kubik.org.
Thanks in advance for your help. The support that we've received has been marvelous. We just need a little more to finish the project in its last phase. We will be giving updates on this as we approach the November ship date.
Shipping will be from St. Paul

Suite 09Again, thanks for your responses to helping with office equipment for the Malakia Clinic run by UCG member Gladstone Chonde. We have been given two tan metal office desks and one 4'x5' white board that has cork-lined doors that swing open from the middle. This will be helpful. If there are any other items, please contact me at malawi@kubik.org. A receipt for tax purposes will be issued for items donated.
We have sent Mr. Chonde a FAX machine to improve our contact with him. To this point we have only been able to communicate via letter and that takes a very long time.
