UPDATE from Dyanne Dick

Four churches from the NW have already responded that they will be making donations from their areas, both blankets and sleeping bags. Because I mentioned in the announcement that you will also be sending medical supplies and used clothing, two of those church areas have also asked if you need more used clothing.

Stuart Segall has a young man in his area who has offered to be of assistance to line up the best rate through his work for the trucking costs for the collection. What I would really like to see is someone who is willing to donate the space to send it to you in Minneapolis. We are checking into that and any other avenues that would be open to us.

From Vic Kubik:

We are blessed with a development in which the US Government will ship up to two 40 foot containers of humanitarian aid to Malawi at no charge to us. This is potentially 40 tons of humanitarian aid that we can ship...this WILL make a difference in this impoverished land. We will work with Patty Hahn-Carlson to fill those containers for Malakia Clinic in the capital of Lilongwe and Kasambala Medical Centre in Nchenachena which is six hours north by car. We are in the midst of still getting final approval as our documents are being processed.

In the menu on Africa page you came from we have posted some exciting new and updated items.

I have come in contact with Patty Hahn-Carlson who lives in St. Paul, Minnesota who has promoted humanitarian work in Malawi. She writes about her latest trip here in the Africa section. Along with visiting the clinic that she and her church support, Patty also visited Gladstone and Alice Chonde at Malakia Clinic in Lilongwe and was able to hand carry two large bottles of badly needed tetracyclene. This was the first aid we have actually gotten to Malawi.

We are going to conitinually update the Africa section this summer. Be sure to check back often. Thanks for your interest.
