Here is the latest on the Philippines Project:
We have shipped 71 pairs of shoes--will be sending one more box of shoes to complete the request for specific sizes, Rosie Seltzer has some of those already--and I still have one store who is making a donation I will get to tomorrow and then I still have to follow up on two other stores I have not heard from yet. So all the shoes we need yet to send will be donated.
We have shipped 10 sleeping bags--and Linda Schreiber has 14 more to ship this week. Some of these were donated and some purchased--some of the purchased ones were purchased by Linda's congregation up there in MN. And they are paying the shipping costs on those.
We have shipped 20 back packs. Some were donated and some were purchased. Also Bob Artman shipped 1 tent, 2 sleeping bags, and 2 back packs.
In addition I found some nice two man tents at Wal Mart--they didn't have them at the WalMart in MN --so I am going to purchase 10 of those--and Steve Myers' congregation up there is going to pick up the tab for purchasing and shipping those.
Also, Sharon Browning is sending a bunch of pairs of athletic shorts---I checked with Ed and he said they could use them.
Suzan JohnsThe Minocin for the member with schleroderma there has been sent--they should receive that this week--I sent that small package by air. It is a 6 1/2 month supply.
Also, camp has been postponed till May--so that should take care of the concerns of whether the surface shipments would get there in time. We are still trying to get it all out by end of February.
It has been fun--and it will be nice to see the campers using the equipment we have been able to gather for them....
More later,
Sue Johns
