LifeNets October 2015 report on help in the war-torn
Donetsk, Ukraine area....

Posted Noember 1, 2015

The hardships in Eastern Ukraine continue and will worsen as winter approaches. LifeNets helps out in but a small way with a $600 contribution every month. We need to keep this up through the winder to at least show some material and moral support. We have a very fine contact on the ground, Yuri Andreew who distributes the aid. We assure you that every dollar donated gets aid to the people in need. There is no overhead!

Everyone involved would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the donors on this side; the suffering and need that you are helping to mitigate is hard to envisage.

Also we would like to give special thanks to Yuri Andreew. He is not in good health, and he does not have his own vehicle. He has used public transportation to travel into the cities and purchase and transport groceries to different areas of the cities. He returns at the end of the day completely worn out. However, he is fueled by a desire to help those in need. His wife says he never complains but rather gives thanks to the Eternal for His help and mercy.

Brief Report from Yuri Andreew

The economic situation in Ukraine remains catastrophic. Tariffs for gas heating increased in comparison with the last year five times over. People en masse refused to use gas heating. And they chopped wood and heated rooms with the help of the heating furnace. Food is very expensive, and there is very little work. Salaries that people have are very small, and they are not enough to buy a decent meal.

In Eastern Ukraine, Russian terrorists have occupied many cities, and thousands of people became refugees, leaving their homes. They not only moved into the free territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, but also in other regions of Ukraine.

In this situation, the refugees from the East of Ukraine, the poor pensioners, and the unemployed are in particular need: they do not have well-paid jobs, and often they can not buy food and medicine.

In view of this situation, in October we searched for refugees from Eastern Ukraine and poor people in the Mykolaiv region who were in need of the most basic food, baby food, medicines, etc.

Each family of refugees and other poor families, according  to their need,  received food packages and some other direly needed things for their families. Below are photos of the families with brief descriptions.

I performed this work with brother Valeri. Several times we went into Nikolaev and returned to New Odessa (45 km from our town). So some of the funds were spent on travel.
