Bird Houses for the LifeNets
Developing Nations Scholarship FundPosted August 11, 2006
At Preteen Camp Buckeye in Northeastern Ohio that was held from July 31 through August 2 a novel idea helped raise nearly $400 for the Developing Nations Scholarship Fund.
Teen workers at Camp Buckeye in their spare time helped assemble and paint birdhouses that were sold at the end of the camp to parents collecting their children and others who felt that $10 for a birdhouse was excellent value. Excellent in that eight dollars from the sale of each birdhouse went to help send a UCG student to college in Latin America or Africa.
Parents brought the precut pieces ready to assemble. Then they were decorated. It was an easy sell as more than 40 birdhouses were sold!
Special thanks to Dave Myers, Dan Dowd and David Evans and others who helped with this fun project that also did a lot of good for others.
