4th Annual Wooster, Ohio
Regional Family Day March 14, 2009 and Fun Fair Raises Money for Student Computers in Malawi On March 14th, 2009. 440 United Church of God members joined together for the fourth annual Wooster, Ohio, Regional Family Day and Fun Fair. Local Ohio congregations hosted the event to enjoy the fellowship as well as to raise funds for the purchase of much needed computers for students in the LifeNets Developing Nations Scholarship Program in Malawi. After Bible study seminars and a regular church service, a delicious Western chili dinner was served. Lots of different activities followed at the end of the Sabbath, including a bluegrass music jam session, and a Country Store fundraiser where handmade items were sold. Baked goods, art objects, and embroidered and knit items were among the items made and donated by local church members. A big hit of the evening was the Family Fun Fair. Local church areas in the region were encouraged to design and assemble carnival-type game stations, and then to operate them that night. Creativity and ingenuity went to work as an exciting array of game stations were brought in. Among the twenty-five-or-so game stations were “Wack a Nut” and “Rocket Launch.” One of the most heard comments was how the evening brought great participation from the local churches and lots of unity between the brethren, as all ages and whole families could participate.
