Jim and Sue Johns Haul U-Haul (Actually Ryder)
of Dental Equipment Destined for Ukraine

They left Pennsylvania Thursday November 7, 1996  for Minnesota. Let Sue tell the story....

Hi Vic and Bev!

We spent most of today gathering the rest of the dental supplies. When I talked to Bev the other night I told her we still needed handpieces and compressors. We now have two compressors and a number of handpieces. We have lots of burs to go with the handpieces, but we have to find bur changers that will work with these handpieces (every brand uses different bur changers). There are 8 high speed handpeices and 3 low speed. That represents about $2500 if you were buying them new. We have 9 chairs, 5 light units, three drill units, 1 x-ray machine, (besides the panarex that will go later), two amalgamators, filling materials, veneers, impression waxes, temporary filling material, 2 lead aprons, 1800 pairs of eyeglasses ( I just spent several hours going thru those), 2 stools, 1 xray viewer, a couple hundred dental instruments(including surgical), a box of medical surgical instruments of all types, about 100 IV catheters, several hearing aids, plus other miscellanous stuff. We are working on getting the light bulbs for the lights as most did not have them. It's all coming together I think.

There were a few packets of dental xrays also- maybe around 100. You should think about sending some of those over.

We are trying to figure how to send over a product call Dycal which is used to line the cavity before the filling goes in- it is important to cut sensitivity. This product is touchy though- needs to be refrigerated to have a decent shelf life. If it got hot going over it would be worthless. This will probably have to be hand carried over next time you go. We will send some cavity varnish over now though.

We will be leaving here on Thursday with the truck.
