Dear Vic and Bev,

Wednesday, September 17

Yesterday we went to Ivan and Nina's Yurishko's for lunch. They have a very lovely home. We exchanged pictures and took some again. We got out a map and showed them where we live. We came back to the mission and Victor, Brenda, Nancy & I went to a little cafe and got ice cream sundaes. Not quite like ours in America but still good. Just a little bit of nostalgia there.

We came back and we waited for Maria. We thought she was going to come back with the tech to do some more work on the equipment, but we think we may have missed her. We will try again tomorrow.

We went back to Turbaza, had some dinner and awaited the arrival of hot water!! We got our third hot shower and probably won't get another till Friday night. There is hot water from 12-2 and from 6-8 PM. We found out there is no hot water in the morning. We are never there in the afternoon so we catch it in the evening when we can, but tonight and tomorrow night we are going to people's houses for dinner. Tonight to Maria's and tomorrow night to Ivan and Anna Pavliy's. Please don't worry about our living conditions, we are adjusting OK.

I took out a plate full of fruit to the children last night and gave the cleaning lady bread. We have been being given more food than we could possibly eat. When we go to someone's house they want us to eat more, when we're already full.

When we got to the mission I went downstairs again to try to locate some more of our stuff. I can't find the missing boxes, but they are not critical boxes. We have found all the equipment, instruments and filling materials. I checked the amalgamator to make sure it was 50-60 hertz, because apparently they cannot convert the hertz part. It is so and it should be OK. I also found the instruction manuals for the panarex.

Victor said that more macaroni products and rice will be needed this year since from what I understood him to say the potato crop was only about one tenth the usual yield.

Nancy and Brenda went to the market, once was enough for me. So I have more time to type more this morning. When Victor picked us up this morning, he pointed out the marigolds growing out front, and said they were from the seeds you sent. I'll take a picture to show you.

Nancy and Brenda just got back and Nancy bought two big wooden spoons. Victor looked at them and said they look like Kubika spoons. No comment.

An engineer is to come today to give Victor an estimate on the remodeling project. I have been asking him every day, so I guess he decided to answer my question.

Nancy says we have adjusted better than she thought we would and we wish we could stay another week so we could get a little more accomplished. Get ready, you may have company on your next trip because I hate to let this project sit idle till next summer.

Love,

Sue & Nancy
