Monday morning, June 16th I'm leaving for Ukraine. Surgeon Maurice Frohn will meet me in Budapest on Wednesday from where we will continue on to Kiev.
Why are we going? There are a few different reasons.
The first mission of our trip is to be in Chernihiv (Chernigov) on June 19th for the anniversary of the opening of the Centre of Social/Medical Rehabilitation for Handicapped Children. This is 40 miles due east of the infamous Chernobyl nuclear reactor. The forming of this centre, the only one of its kind in Ukraine is the work of Dr. Vasiliy Pasechnik and two other doctors. The story of the forming of this center is told by clicking here. This anniversary will be attended by the British Ambassador, Mr. Roy Reeve, who dedicated the centre on June 19, 1996.

After Chernihiv we will be met in Kiev by Mission Nazareth director Victor Pavliy who will take the train together with us in southern Ukraine to Kherson (Cherson) where the refugees from Tajikistan are resettling. Fifty of the 250 have already resettled. We will give a full report here on this web site when we return. We will also publish a newsletter with further information.
Then we will be picked up by auto and driven out west to Khust where we will spend 4-5 days with the Sabbatarians, including a Sabbath where Maurice Frohn and I will speak. We have already produced 14 articles in Russian and will present them to the Ukrainians. They will be distributing them on their own as well as publishing them in their Good News magazine The Good News is the first organized publication they have produced since being able to practice their religion freely.
