On Wednesday, November 20 in Lafayette, Indiana 15 businesses, two newspapers, six radio stations along with channel 18 are going to sponsor a DAY OF THANKS for helping send aid to Ukraine.

We are expressing thanksgiving at this time of year for living in a land of peace and plenty. This is not true in other parts of the world. So, as a community we are going to share some of our windfall with others.

The focus of this Day of Thanks will be on the victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster which took place ten years ago and is still the affecting the health of millions of people in Ukraine and Belorus. As usual, children have been hurt the most.

British surgeon Maurice Frohn and I visited the Chernobyl area in April and are returning in December. You can read Maurice Frohn's account of our findings by clicking here.

Victor Kubik has visited Ukraine five times since November 1992, most recently in April 1996 and will be returning December 1996. He has visited the former Soviet Union twelve times.

Dr. Anthony J. Pacelli first visit to Ukraine planned for July 97, "Doctors Of Health". This will be a group of doctors of different health care working to help mankind, (doctors of chiropractic, medicine, dental, etc.). Victor Kubik will assist in interpretation and relating to the people there.

Ukraine is economically bankrupt and is facing a very difficult winter. People have not been paid in months and conditions are desperate.

Here are some of the primary projects we are working on:

1. Working with Children's Polyclinic and Rehabilitation Center in the Chernobyl Area

Along with noted British Surgeon Maurice Frohn we have worked with doctors helping children who have directly been affected by radiation not ten years after the accident. This year we have shipped a year's supply of levothyroxine sodium (for children who had cancerous thyroids removed) for all the children in near Chernobyl. We have shipped many other medicines and vitamins.

Through the "Operation Support Freedom" the US Government provides shipping free of charge to the approved agencies we work with. We have just received approval to ship another twenty foot container to Chernigev (a city of 320,000 40 miles east of Chernobyl) before the end of the calendar year.

Dr. Maurice Frohn's findings and work in Chernobyl are going to be published in the London Daily Telegraph, weened edition December 7th or 14th.

2. Helping Communities in the western province of Transcarpathia through Mission Nazareth

This mission is headed by Victor Pavliy who is working to equitably distribute aid in the community and through area hospitals.

We have shipped a twenty foot container of medicine, food and clothing that arrived September 19th. It's value was $145,000.

A forty foot container was shipped October 28th. It contained over 11,000 pounds of food besides clothing and some medicine. It's value was $150,000.

Another 20 foot container containing dental equipment (chairs, drills, tools, supplies for working on teeth) is being shipped towards the end of November or in early December.

3. Helping Relocate 150 Ukrainians from War-torn Tadjikistan back to Ukraine

Civil war has broken out in Tadjikistan which borders Afghanistan. Moslem Fundamentalists are repeating what happened in Afghanistan and immediate action is being taken to relocate Ukrainians, Russians and Germans back to their countries of origin.

By year's end we will have shipped nearly one million dollars worth of aid to Ukraine.

4. Other Projects we are working on:

Africa: Malawi and South Africa
Estonia: Helping delinquent boys home
