February 12, 2000 Update

 

We are doing well on our Philippines project as a shipment is on its way to Ed Macaraeg Monday, February 14th.  We are also shipping about $250 worth of much needed medicine Monday.  

We have received $850 in donations, but could use more to complete this project. Students at ABC have collected $400 for Bibles.  If you want to help, please make a contribution to

Hi,

Here is what I have ready to ship Monday AM February 14th--all boxed up and labeled:

9 boxes containing 51 pairs of shoes, 10 sleeping bags and 20 back packs.

What we have spent:

28 pairs of shoes--$110
23 pairs of shoes-donated
7 sleeping bags--$73.00
3 sleeping bags-donated
12 back packs--$61.00
8 back packs donated

In each case even the purchased items were greatly reduced--the shoes and back packs were on clearance....and then they knocked even more off the price for us. For instance some of the shoes were on clearance at less than half price already at $9.00 a pair and they sold them to us for $5.00.

We still have some shoes promised to us. And the group in Minnesota is working on getting some donations also. And I think they are going to pay the shipping for the stuff they get--their congregation's contribution. I have checked with the post office and to send surface is about $1.45 a pound.  So they will cost about $250 to mail surface--and I am told that they will arrive within 30 days.
