Indianapolis-based LifeNets International ships
five tons of fire-fighting, relief supplies to New York City
with help of Kentucky Red Cross, local Rotary and Kiwanis clubs
INDIANAPOLIS—LifeNets International, a humanitarian relief organization based here, has collected and shipped five tons of fire-fighting and relief supplies to workers in New York City, according to Victor Kubik, LifeNets president. “We began our Manhattan Project earlier this week and were gratified at the quick response of our volunteers and especially the Red Cross chapter of Paducah, Kentucky, the Volunteer Citizen's Disaster Relief Fund in Bloomington (Indiana), and local Kiwanis and Rotary club members here.”
After being temporarily stored at Peine Engineering here, the five ton shipment left early Friday morning and will arrive late in the evening (of September 21). Items in the shipment included:
· Goggles and safety glasses
· Saline solution
· Heavy rain suits
· Steel-toed rubber boots
· Hard hats
· Eye wash
· Heavy gloves
· Work clothes
· Respirator masks
· Bottled water
Kubik said the relief project will continue. Additional information and progress about the New York City project can be found at the organization’s Web site: www.lifenets.org
