Jed Sy and Jong Pilapil imminent release

Victor Kubik, Jed Sy and Earl Roemer on July 14, 2013

For more than a decade we have been praying for Jed Sy and her brother Jong Pilapil who have been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Philippines.  I was privileged to visit them in prison on July 14, 2013 with Earl Roemer.  We have kept in contact with them since and have My initial story featured stories on this website which you can follow

Initial story

After our visit on Wednesday, September 18, I wanted to share a brief update on Jed Sy and Jong Pilapil, who have endured a long and difficult journey since 2004. Although they have faced significant challenges, both have remained steadfast in their faith, choosing to serve within the facility and contribute to programs that benefit fellow inmates.

Recently, they received news that has brought new hope to their situation. Both Jed and Jong have received the news of their possible release from prison through the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA). While this process may still take time, they remain hopeful while trusting in God’s plan and timing.

We ask that you continue to keep them in your prayers, asking for God's continued favor and guidance for them. We are grateful for God's hand in their lives and the encouragement that this update brings to all of us.

Respectfully,

Roy Gilos

[The Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) is a provision under Republic Act No. 10592 in the Philippines. It allows for the reduction of prison sentences for inmates who exhibit good behavior while incarcerated. For every month of good conduct, a prisoner can have a portion of their sentence reduced. The GCTA aims to encourage rehabilitation and good behavior among inmates.]

Hello Mr Kubik,

Good day to you, Sir.

It is truly wonderful and amazing to hear about their progress, especially knowing the difficulties and challenges they have faced since the beginning. It all comes as a great surprise, particularly for Jed and Jong.

LifeNets, along with your faithful donors, with the Late Mr. Earl Roemer, and our Senior Pastor, Mr. David Dobson has indeed been instrumental in helping and uplifting them during those difficult times, providing essential support to improve the lives of those inside the prison. This includes installing a new water well system, building Nipa-Hut kiosks for families to spend time with their loved ones during visits, and addressing other needs. We ask that you continue to keep them in your prayers, asking for God's continued favor and guidance for them. We are grateful for God's hand in their lives and the encouragement that this update brings to all of us.

Respectfully,
Roy Gilos
