Death of LifeNets Board Member Susan Waldo Peine

Our LifeNets community is deeply saddened by the passing of our board member, Susan Waldo Peine, at the age of 87 in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 19, 2024. She was a remarkable woman—a loving wife, devoted mother, and inspiring saint.

Susan's husband, Tom Peine, who preceded her in death in 2015, served as an early Chairman of the LifeNets board for about 15 years. Throughout their marriage, Susan stood steadfastly by his side in a supportive role. Yet, following Tom's passing, she emerged as a leader in her own right.

Susan's support was most evident in her ability to empower those around her. This quality shone brightly when she joined the LifeNets board of directors. While some board members focused on strategy, planning, or finances, Susan contributed through her unwavering positivity, faith, and the gravitas of her personality. She had a unique gift for making projects succeed simply because she believed in people and inspired them to believe in themselves. That’s leadership—true and invaluable.

Susan shared Tom’s philanthropic heart until her final days, and her absence will be deeply felt. Her legacy of faith and encouragement will continue to inspire us all.  Here is earlier my tribute to her husband Tom Peine
